AS PREPARATIONS continue for Newport's popular food festival, brewery Tiny Rebel has been announced as headline sponsors of this year's festival.

It is the second year the award-winning Newport brewery will be the headline sponsor.

The Tiny Rebel Newport food and drink festival will take place on Saturday, October 7, and will boast a programme of chef demonstrations, entertainment, competitions and more than 70 stalls.

Bradley Cummings, from Tiny Rebel, said: “We are a proud Newport business.

“It’s great to be able to give something back to the city and support the festival which really has something for all tastes.”

First-time sponsors Newport Now, the city’s Business Improvement District, are supporting the gallery area of the Newport Market. The Newport Now Zone will host chef demonstrations throughout the day and will see the return of a head-to-head culinary competition.

Councillor Mark Whitcutt, deputy leader of Newport City Council, said: “The Tiny Rebel Newport Food and Drink Festival is a fantastic city event. We saw over 14,000 people join us last year and hope to see even more people this year.

“Without the generosity and support of these local businesses, the festival would not be the excellent family day out it has grown to be.

“We look forward to working with them to make 2017 the best year yet.”

Other sponsors of the event include the Celtic Manor and The Golden Lion, in Magor.
