POLICE have issued a 48-hour dispersal order for the Alway area of Newport in an effort to crack down on anti-social behaviour.
The order began on 4pm today, Monday, and covers Aberthaw Avenue, Aberthaw Rise, Penkin Hill, Balfe Road, Ladyhill Road, Aberthaw Road, Henry Wood Close and the Alway shopping precinct.
It will end at 4pm on Wednesday, August 23.
The order, which means anyone must leave the area if told to by a police or community support officer or face being arrested, has been put in place following concerns from residents and businesses of abusive language, criminal damage to vehicles and gangs.
