ROTHBURY House has failed to sell at auction for a second time this year.

The Cinotti brothers - who own the building - had hoped to open a boutique hotel at Rothbury House in Stow Park Circle.

But last month Pasquale Cinotti revealed to the Argus that the restaurateurs had encountered a series of stressful incidents - including threatening letters - which had thrown their plans into question.

Mr Cinotti previously said: “When you get threatening letters which say ‘we will do everything to disrupt your business’ and ‘we will install cameras to monitor all your movements’ it makes you think let’s just go else where.

“Newport is our home and we’re upset with everything that’s going on.”

The Jacobean-style Rothbury House was put up for auction again on Thursday at the Park Inn Hotel, Cardiff but it failed to sell.

The asking price stood at £375,000 plus.

A few bids - including a £350,000 bid - were made at the auction, but all fell below the asking price.
