POLICE officers have investigated a business in Chepstow Road, Newport.
An eyewitness said the officers arrived at BBS Barber Shop at around 7.30am.
Gwent Police would not confirm if the raid was linked to investigations over the Parsons Green tube attack in London, but they referred questions about the incident to the Metropolitan Police.
The windows of the shop have been covered with evidence bags, while a number of unmarked cars, as well as a police van and community support officers, remain at the scene.
Eddie Nelson, who owns a business nearby, said: “My wife saw officers outside at 9am, but they were keeping a low profile.
“When I arrived at 6.45am there was no police presence, but a police van was parked further on down the road. I don’t know what’s going on.”
“It’s a bit close to home, but we’re not worried.”
An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said they did not think anyone had been arrested at the scene.
A spokesman for Metropolitan Police said that they are “not being any more specific than confirming an arrest was made in Cardiff”.
