A NEWPORT man who was appointed as Honorary Consul for Japan in Wales is set to pay his first official visit to the country.
Keith Dunn OBE, of Stow Park Circle, Newport, officially took up his appointment in January after being appointed by the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Mr Dunn will fly out to Tokyo this Sunday on a six-day visit, where he will have meetings with the UK Ambassador for Japan, Paul Madden, meet representatives of the St. David’s Society of Japan, the vice president of Panasonic in Kusatsu and tour the Toyota car plant in Nagoya.
He will also visit an accident and emergency department at a hospital in Tokyo and see how the ambulance services are organised.
Mr Dunn said: "I am very much looking forward to my first visit to Japan and seeing at first hand the running of the country and to share what Wales has to offer Japan and what Japan can offer Wales."
Mr Dunn's work as Honorary Consul includes helping provide support for Japanese companies and overseeing cultural events.
