THE Abergavenny Festival of Cycling was up and running on the weekend with the mass participation Iron Mountain Sportif ride.
Cyclists of all abilities took on challenges from 20 miles to 100 miles around Monmouthshire.
The Sportif also included multi-sport activities in Bailey Park backed by the Welsh Rugby Union, Tennis Wales, Welsh Cycling, Gwent Outdoor Centres and Monmouthshire County Council as part of an initiative to get kids active.
The Iron Mountain Monmouthshire 20 was won in 1:48:52 by Hassan Al-kaabi, Iron Mountain Monmouthshire 40 in 5:17:32 by Catrin Arnopp, the Iron Mountain Monmouthshire 70 in 6:25:29 (Lap 1 3:19:04) by Philip Amphlett and the Iron Mountain Monmouthshire 100 in 5:39:29 (Lap 1 2:04:53) by Reece Adams.
Yesterday saw Monmouthshire host the latest round of the British Cycling Junior Road Series – the Cwmtillery Glass Monmouthshire Junior Grand Prix.
The race is over a distance of 77.4 miles (124.6 km) and starts at Hilston Park in the village of Newcastle at 11am and is due to finish between 2pm and 2.15pm.
Riders took on one big loop of a route to Abergavenny before they then returned to Grosmont where they tackled three laps of a tough circuit around the village before the victor was due to be confirmed.
