A PEDESTRIAN has been killed after being hit by a car in Brynmawr.

Gwent Police said they were called at 2.30pm yesterday (Sunday, June 24) to reports of a collision on Market Square in Brynmawr.

The incident involved one car and a pedestrian, who was taken into hospital yesterday with "serious injuries".

But today, Gwent Police confirmed the pedestrian died from those injuries.

A 29-year-old man, from Brynmawr, is being held in police custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while investigations continue

A Gwent Police spokesman said: "Officers attended the scene and dealt with a one vehicle collision with a pedestrian.

"Sadly, the pedestrian involved passed away from their injuries and specialist officers are supporting their family at this difficult time.


"A 29-year-old man from Brynmawr was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody at this time.

"Investigations are ongoing and officers would be particularly interested in hearing from motorists with dash cam footage of the incident.
