A DISPUTE between two bus companies over use of the station in Cwmbran has been resolved.

The row, which involved Phil Anslow Limited and Stagecoach, has resulted in two new bus bays being created at the station.

The new bays, completed this month, have increased the capacity of the station by 25 per cent.

Phil Anslow Limited has been granted use of both new bays and will be running services from these moving forward.

All bus routes operated by Stagecoach will be unaffected, as the company’s presence at the station has not changed.

The dispute ended up in court after Phil Anslow & Sons claimed they only had access to one of eight stands available in the bus station following a new lease Stagecoach signed with Prudential, who own the land.

Stagecoach said at the time that they do not control the allocation of bus stand spaces at the bus station and went through the proper process of applying for stand spaces.

Following the completion of the new bays, Phil Anslow, founder and director at Phil Anslow Limited, said: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement. With the two new bus bays, we hope to be able to further expand our routes so we can offer our local customers a wider range of options across the region.

"For anyone who usually travels with us from Cwmbran, please be aware that our usual departure stand may have changed and some services may be departing from the new stands.

"Please check the information panels and our website for information on this.”

Nigel Winter, managing director at Stagecoach in South Wales, added: “We are glad to have reached an agreement and will continue to deliver high-quality services to our customers across South Wales. Cwmbran is important to us. We will continue working hard to ensure the local community has easy access to our extensive bus routes."

Rupert Milne, asset manager at M&G Real Estate, said: “We are keen to ensure that the local community has the best available range of services to choose from and the two new additional bus bays at Cwmbran Bus Station should greatly help with this. We are glad to have reached an agreement with all parties, and will continue to work closely with Phil Anslow Limited and with Stagecoach to ensure the bus station operates efficiently and effectively.”
