GOYTRE, current leaders of the Premier Division, played twice this week, losing one and winning one.

They lost 2-0 away to Pandy whose goals were scored in the first half by Chris Morgan and Neil Gunter.

On Saturday Goytre won 5-1 away to neighbours Llanarth. Goytre's goals came from a Graham Mason hat-trick plus one a piece to Simon Ritter and Chris Perry. Goytre led 2-1 at half-time. Pandy are in second position, one point behind Goytre but have played two games less.

Llanarth played two, winning in mid-week away to Gilwern and District 2-1, but losing on Saturday to Goytre. Goal scorers for Llanarth at Gilwern and District were Stephen Morgan and Michael Baranski who got the winner with the very last kick of the game. The Gilwern goal was scored by Graham Rees. Llanarth are in fourth position.

Trevethin's midweek game away to Lower New Inn was postponed, but on Saturday Trevethin continued their winning way with a 7-3 away win at Llanfoist. But it was Llanfoist that led 2-0 at half time. Trevethin's goals came from a double hat-trick, Shaun Williams hit a hat-trick as did Chris Perry and Stuart James got one goal. Scorers for Llanfoist were Gareth Williams (2) and Nathan Jones. Trevethin, with games in hand, are in third position.

In midweek Llanfoist visited the Island Usk to take on Usk Town who established a 7-2 half time lead before going on to win the match 10-2. Goal scorers for Usk Town were Christian Phillips (hat-trick), George Ashworth (hat-trick), Philip Sampson, Carl McEwan, Scott Lauder and Charlie Ashworth. Goal scorers for Llanfoist were Gareth Williams and Nathan Jones. Llanfoist are in 7th position, Usk Town hold 6th position.

On Saturday Gilwern and District drew 3-3 at home to Pontypool Town. The sides were level 0-0 at half time. Goal scorers for Gilwern and District were Owen Edwards, Chris Davies and Graham Rees. Goal scorers for Pontypool Town were Richard Wakeling (two) and Stuart Price. Richard Wakeling put Pontypool Town level at 3-3 with the last kick of the match for both sides to earn a point. The match was well refereed by stand-in Huw Burkitt.

Clydach Wasps lead Division One by two points over Blaenavon Blues. In mid-week on Wednesday the Wasps won their local derby match at Crickhowell 5-2. The Wasps led 2-1 at half-time. A feature of this match was that Ryan Price scored all five goals for Clydach Wasps and Allun Jones scored both the Crickhowell goals.

On Saturday the Wasps beat visitors Sebastopol 9-2. The Wasps led 4-0 at half-time. Sub Dorian Reames came on and scored a hat-trick in ten minutes. Other Clydach Wasps goals were scored by Simon Tippins (2), Ryan Young (2), Adam Carrington and Giles Prosser. Goal scorers for Sebastopol were Stefan Kendall and Ron Pask. The match was well refereed by stand in Nigel Watkins.

In midweek Mardy won their local derby at home to Govilon 2-1. The sides were level at half time 0-0. Goal scorers for Mardy were Jayde Kelly and Lewis Welch. The goalscorer for Govilon was Joshua Jones. Mardy are in fifth position.

On Saturday Govilon had a 3-0 home win over visitors Panteg with Jeff Sterry scoring (2) plus a Panteg own goal by Lee Williams. Govilon led 1-0 at half-time. Govilon hold seventh position.

In midweek Panteg beat neighbours New Inn 3-2 away with goals scored by Chris White (2) and Nick Scotfield. Goal scorers for New Inn were Carl Brown and Martin Bewick. Panteg hold Division One 9th position.

Tranch had two good wins this week. On Thursday they won 3-2 away to Fairfield United. The sides were level 1-1 at half-time. Goal scorers for Tranch were Andrew Lewis, Ricky Ball and Rhys Jones. Goal scorers for Fairfield United, Mark Randell and Michael Harper. On Saturday Tranch won 5-3 away to Pilcs. Goal scorers for Tranch were Andrew Hayes (2), Rhys Jones (2) and Steve West. Goal scorers for Pilcs, Paul Taylor and Mark Wyatt (2). Tranch hold fourth position.

In midweek Pilcs drew 1-1 away at Penypound Stadium to Abergavenny Thursdays, goal scorers for Aber Thursdays was Justin Swain. Pilcs' score was an own goal by Thursday's Gareth Ewers. Pilcs hold 8th position.

On Saturday Fairfield United had an 8-2 away win over Crickhowell with goals by Damian Nash (2), Craig Smith (2), Mark Jones (1), Rhys Moreton (1), Mark Burchill (1) and Shay Watkins (1), goals scored for Crickhowell, Gavin Bayton and Simon Wall.

Fairfield United hold Division One's third position.

On Saturday Aber Thursdays claimed maximum points with a 4-1 away win over New Inn, Ross Fury scored a hat-trick for Thursdays and Justin Swain got one. Jeff Tozer scored for New Inn. Aber Thursdays are in sixth position.

In midweek Fairfield United won 1-0 away at Panteg. The all important goal was scored by Michael Harper from a 25 yard volley in the 44th minute of the first half.

Blaenavon Blues this week played two and won two. In midweek, Blues had a 6-0 home win over Sebastopol. Blues led 4-0 at half-time. Goal scorers for the Blues were Grant Evans (2), James Parfitt, M Creese, Lee Carrick and Grant Evans. On Saturday Blues beat Race at home 3-1, Grant Evans scored all three Blues goals via a hat-trick. Andy Pollard pulled a first half goal back for Race. Blaenavon Blues are in second position.

In midweek Race lost 7-3 away to Mardy. Mardy established a 4-0 half time lead. Mardy's goal scorers were Steven Smith (3), Jayde Kelly (2), Liam Issac and Matthew Lynch. Race goals came from Gavin Davies (2) and Ashley Bird. Race are in eleventh position.

On Thursday Govilon and Cwmffrwdoer drew 4-4, the sides were level 2-2 at half-time. Goal scorers for Govilon were Jeff Sterry (2) and ben Burgoyne (2). Trevethin B lead Division Two, three points clear of Clydach B and Usk Town B. Trevethin B have scored 27 goals in their last two matches. In midweek Trevethin B travelled to Llanarth B and won the match 16-1. Trevethin B established a 5-1 half-time lead. On Saturday they visited local rivals Pontypool Town B and won the match 11-2. Trevethin B led 2-1 at half-time. Goal scorers for Trevethin B at Llanarth B Dwaine Hunt (6), Shaun Williams (3), Jason Fairclough (2) Kevin Rogers (2), Chris Stokes, Matthew Powell and Dave Morgan. Paul Ditheridge scored a consolation goal for Llanarth B. Clydach B had a 2-1 midweek away win over Pontypool Town B.

Clydach B took a weakened side to Prescoed on Saturday due to player calls to their senior teams and paid the price with Prescoed winning 4-0, with goals by Dean Hutchinson (2) and Grant Watkins (2). Clydach B are in third position.

In midweek Prescoed lost their local derby match with Usk Town B 7-0. Goal scorers for Usk Town B were William Barton, hat-trick, Rhys Pritchard (2), Ross Curzon and George Ashworth. Prescoed are in fourth position.

On Saturday Usk Town B beat Llanarth B on the Island 7-0. Six of the Usk B goals came in the second half.
