PILL AFC have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the Premier X. They beat Marshfield 4-0 with Darren Berry, Ashley Ball, Dudley Huggins and Matthew Brian getting the goals.

Second placed Llanwern RTB dominated their game with Malpas to finish 4-1 winners. Arron Lewis, Neil Christensen, John Heard and Nicholas Aherne scored for Llanwern.

Four goals by Nathan Lewis (2), Jonathan Clifford and Craig Chaplin gave St Julians Youth a 4-1 win against Caerleon Town. The Ceretti brothers were on form for Pontnewydd United in their 7-0 win over Henllys Rangers. Matthew scored four goals and Nathan three.

The Ship and Pilot left it late to secure all three points in their game with Llanwern Sports and Social. A last-minute goal gave them a 4-3 win. Nevid Mizvada scored the all important goal to give Pill Hibernians a 1-0 win over Duffryn.

With Premier Y leaders Cwmbran Town not playing, several clubs missed the chance to close the gap at the top. Albion Rovers lost 3-1 to local rivals Civil Service. Cwmbran Celtic went down 1-0 to a diving head by Lliswerry's Newport County veteran David Jarvis. Spencer Boys Club gained their first win of the season when they beat Cromwell Youth 5-3. Goals by Duane Fontella (3), Dale Cooke and an own goal helped Spencer Boys to their win.

Six goals from Neil Coote (3), Steve Parsons, Jordan White and Anthony Roach-Blackwell gave Lucas Cwmbran a 6-2 win over Coed Eva. Three goals by Craig Cowland was enough to give Rogerstone a 3-2 win against Malpas Gladiator.

AC Pontymister won 4-2 against Trethomas Bluebirds with goals from Rhys Cleere, Jamie Lewis, Lee Williams, plus an own goal.

Division One was full of high scoring games with Shaftesbury Youth heading the list. They hammered Marshfield 12-1 with Andrew Sanderson (3), Brian Dare (3), Chris Walsh (3), Kyle Byrne, Simon Jones and Garry Powell getting the goals. Cwmcarn Athletic took all three points for the first time this season when they beat Caerleon Town 7-1. Tom Llewellyn (2), Andrew Dent (2), Robert Stock, Dale Parry and Dean Johnson got the goals.

The Royal Mail won 4-2 at home to Newport Corinthians. Croesyceiliog beat Villa Dino Christchurch 5-0 with goals from Joel Dean (3) and Graham Davies (2). Albion Rovers won 6-1 away to Spencer Old Boys with Neil Swift (3), Tyrone Glover (2) and Richard Jenkins getting the goals.

The Tradesmans Arms eased to an 8-0 win over Pontnewydd with their goals coming from Lewis Boyd (2), Hamed Redmore. James Roden, David Partridge, John Richards, David Watkins and John Hoskins.

In Division Two, Cosmos threw away a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3 against league leaders St Dials. Three goals in the last 15 minutes gave St Dials their eighth win of the season. A hat-trick by David Brice and one from Paul Lewis got St Dials out of jail.

Graig-y-Rhacca won 8-2 against AC Pontymister. The Ship and Pilot won 5-2 at home to Pill AFC. Four goals by Matthew Lillygreen (2), Dan Rogers and Mick Martin gave Malpas a 4-3 win over Lliswerry. Riverview Hibernians won 6-3 at home to Royal Mail, their goals coming from Daniel Tanner (3), John Compton, Hussein Mohamed and Jimba Zhang. Ponthir failed to fulfil their fixture with Rogerstone.

Llanwern Sports and Social gained their tenth win in ten in Division Four when they beat Malpas Gladiator 2-0. David Phillips scored both Llanwern goals. Greenhouse got their first three points with a 3-2 victory against Pill Hibernians. Alexander Cooke (2) and Scott Collins got the goals. Racing Club Newport and Albion Rovers shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

Bettws Social Club moved into third place after a 6-3 win over Royal Mail. The Darren won 4-2 at home to Cwmbran Centre YP. Newport Galaxy broke their fixture with Pill AFC.

The extra hour in bed did little for Bettws Social Club and New Age Revolution in Division One of the Sunday League. Bettws was hammered 20-4 by a rampant Llanwern United. New Age Revolution went down 32-1 to Cwmbran Athletic. The Cwmbran scorers were Jordan Ryan (5), Jamie Ryan (4), Michael Dobbs (4), Kirk Hicks (3), Scott Ryan (3), Craig Vinnup (3), Jamie Jones (2), Luke Dickenson (2), Joseph Michna (2), Keiron Hurn (2), Chris Chaney and an own goal.

Drakes AFC and Redwood Club shared the points in a 3-3 draw. Six goals from Jason Labies (4) Liam Whiskey and Ken Brown gave Coronation Club a 6-3 win against Real Bettws.

In Division Two, Royal Mail remain top after a 6-3 win over ND Celtics. David Evans (5) and Tim Ellul scored for the Mail. AC Haymakers won 3-2 at home to Pioneer. The Oddfellows Arms won 3-2 against high-flying TRW. Three goals by Nabell Al-Sayyar, Tim Powell and Joel Smith gave Athletic Allsorts a 3-1 win against County Athletic.

The chairman and committee of the Newport and District Football League wish to express their sympathy and sadness at the death of Gareth Davies. Gareth played for Pontnewydd United seconds on Saturday and the Oddfellows Arms in the Sunday league. Both teams have cancelled their games for next weekend as a mark of respect to their team mate. The executive committee have asked for a minute's silence to be observed at all league games this weekend.
