MP Paul Flynn told the Argus he believes Cardiff West MP Kevin Brennan, who grew up in Cwmbran, is the favourite to become next Secretary of State for Wales.
The Newport West MP added a tribute to Hain, saying: "The cabinet has lost the lone voice that won justice for 140,000 cheated pensioners and the strong voice for clean renewable energy especially tidal power.
"Peter Hain is a decent, able politician of integrity who declared legal donations late."
