MORE than 200 people are expected to attend the funeral of a hard-working fundraiser who died at the age of 35.

Neil Davies, of Bettws, Newport, died on February 26 after battling various illnesses.

The married father-of-one was named Argus charity champion in 2006, and raised more than £100,000 for good causes over 20 years.

A service will take place at St David Lewis Church in Monnow Way, Bettws at 11am on Friday.

But in keeping with the optimistic attitude displayed by the former Tesco employee throughout his life, people are asked to dress casually and in bright colours.

Burial will take place at St Woolos Cemetery at 12 noon. All are welcome to attend a family gathering at Bettws Social Club afterwards.

Rosemary Butler, AM for Newport West, and members of Newport council are expected to attend.
