WORLD boxing champion Joe Calzaghe is backing a charity which helps youngsters get a good start in life.

The super middleweight world champion and BBC Sports Personality of the year is backing charity Home-Start's national fundraising event, The Big Tea Party, by signing a copy of his autobiography, "No Ordinary Joe".

As patron for Home-Start Caerphilly, Joe, currently training for his fight with Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas at he weekend, is aware of the vital support Home-Start offers its families."

He said: "I have two teenage sons and know first hand just how demanding it can be looking after children."

It is hoped that The Big Tea Party, between the May 1 and 31 2008 will raise thousands of pounds for families and children who are struggling to cope with one or more children under the age of five years.

As part of the month-long campaign, an eBay auction has been set up to raise the profile of the campaign and much needed funds.

The winning bidder will receive a signed hardback copy of Joe Calzaghe's autobiography, "No ordinary Joe."

Other iems being auctioned include a VIP tour of Hamleys toy shop, an "I'm a little teapot" t-shirt signed by Graham Norton and a round of golf at and an overnight stay at the Fairmont Hotel.
