A FUNDRAISING mother-of-three who has battled terminal cancer for years is shortlisted to receive an award for courage and bravery.

Bridget McNally, 47, from Blackwood, was nominated by her friend Sandra Bray as Britain's Most Inspirational Fundraiser.

If successful she will take home the award in memory of renowned fundraiser Jane Tomlinson, who died last year after a battle with cancer Ms McNally was nominated for her efforts in raising over £140,000 for Cancer Research.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, which later developed into bone cancer.

She said :"I think this is amazing and really humbling."

Ms McNally, who is on the Valley's Relay For Life committee, said her three children, Daniel, 19, Laura, 17, and Jack 16, keep her focused.

"Fundraising gives me my drive, it means I can put the cancer to the back of my mind.

"It's probably too late for me but I'm doing it for my children's generation because there are breakthroughs all the time."

The winner will also take £20,000 for their chosen charity.
