Chepstow Male Voice Choir's talented and popular Musical Director, Brian Howard has announced that he will be retiring at the end of the year, after the choir's Christmas Concert.

Brian joined the choir to conduct just one concert when there was no-one in office. That was five and a half years ago! Brian has remained with the choir and hastaken it to new and ever higher standards.

The committee of Chepstow Male Voice Choir has now started the process of recruiting a new Musical Director. The quest has to start now as choir MD's are not easily found, and it is hoped that the person appointed can be in place with a useful overlap with Brian. Anyone reading this who may be interested should either go to the choir's website on www.chepstowmvc.co.uk or call George Hiscocks on 01291 623826.

The choir's next local concert will be at St.Mary's Priory Church on Thursday, July 17, at 7:30 and it is FREE to attend. The concert is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the formation of Chepstow Male Voice Choir, and to say a big "Thank you" to the people of Chepstow and district who have given their support over those years. It is also part of Chepstow Festival 2008.

The audience on that evening may have a preview of part of the programme to be sung by the choir at the National Eisteddfod in Cardiff on 9th August. Rehearsals are going on intensely with the choristers and the musical team all seeking that peak of performance necessary in competition.
