A MAN was arrested after a car flipped over in a 'nasty' Boxing Day crash.

Gwent Police arrested the driver at the scene and he has been charged on bail with driving "whilst unfit through drink".

A man, 31, was taken into police custody on suspicion of driving his car while under the influence of drink on Castle Street in Caerleon.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We were called to a road traffic collision in Castle Street, Caerleon, at around 11.10pm on Tuesday 26 December.".

The pictured car was seen flipped upside down and one source told The Argus that "the one who got out was one lucky man".

Gwent Police said "the man has been bailed and is due to appear in court on Friday 12 January 2024".

"We were called to a road traffic collision in Castle Street, Caerleon, at around 11.10pm on Tuesday 26 December.

"The collision involved one car.

"A 31-year-old man from the Newport area was arrested at the scene and has been charged with driving whilst unfit through drink.

"The man has been bailed and is due to appear in court on Friday 12 January 2024".
