GWENT fundraisers will put on their red suits and pull up their beards for the second annual St David's Foundation Santa Run.

The charity is hoping as many people as possible will get involved in the five kilometre fun run around North/South Fields Croesyceiliog on Saturday, December 13.

The event was launched last year and the charity is hoping to make it a permanent fixture.

Newport Mayor, Cllr Noel Trigg was happy to sport his festive attire to launch the event.

"I always feel proud when I'm asked to help one of these charities.

"I've seen what the staff do with their hospice at home service and it really does lift a massive weight off people's shoulders."

St David's Foundation chief executive Emma Saysell said: "It promises to be a really festive event that will get everyone in the Christmas mood. If you don't want to go the whole hog and dress as Santa head to toe, then just a hat will do."

The run will begins at 10.30am and just before the main run, with a Toddle-a-thon for the smaller Santa's preceding the main event.
