THIS is the UK’s youngest street dance champion.

Six-year-old Joseph Cadwallader, from Rassau, took first place in the six and under street dance category of the United Dance Organisation (UDO) championships earlier this month in Weston-super-Mare, in what was his first competition.

The Beaufort Hill Primary School pupil, is completely self-taught and takes much of his inspiration from Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson, of whom he is a big fan.

Joseph, who has a sister Amy,17, and a brother Scott, 14, started dancing at the age of three, imitating the dance moves of others.

His mum Sharon Burgess, 39, said he used to be shy but has come out of his shell since taking up dancing and now has no worries about performing in front of others. She said: “We are really proud of him every time we watch him dance. He has a natural talent.

“Obviously we think he is amazing but it’s nice to see that other people think it as well.”

The family is now looking for a dance class that Joseph can attend to help him develop his talent further.

She said: “It’s nice to see him involved in something and it would be nice to see just how good he could be with some tuition.”

Joseph now hopes to take part in the UDO's World Championships 2009 in Blackpool in August.
