SPEEDY swine was one of the more unusual spectacles at Greenmeadow community farm yesterday as visitors were treated to pig racing.

As part of the farm's Easter activities, its finest on four legs competed in two races, with the same porker prevailing both times to hog the limelight.

All the competitors were rewarded with feed after the races for their endeavours.

Sally Partridge, of Greenmeadow farm, said: "We had eight pigs in total and it's just a bit of fun really. We encourage people to pick a pig they think is going to win and cheer them on. It's good fun."

The 50-yard pig races were one of many activities going on at the farm over the bank holiday weekend, including animal care sessions, bottle feeding lambs and milking demonstrations.

There was also a craft and activity tent with a chance for youngsters to get their hands dirty with Easter chick and rabbit puppet making.
