CWMBRAN beat-boxer and singer Lloyd Lewis is having his musical skills tested in a national television competition.

Lloyd, 12, beat off competition from around the UK to make the final 10 when he was chosen at auditions in Bristol to feature in the new children’s television show Clash.

The Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw pupil visited London to film the series, which is currently being shown on CBBC, and was part of a team of five competing against another five children to turn a classical tune into a pop hit.

During the competition the 10 children busked in Covent Garden, collected animal sounds on a farm to use in their song and performed at Radio One’s Big Weekend in Swindon.

Lloyd met celebrities including Katherine Jenkins, Peter Andre, Chris Moyles and Lesley Garrett in the VIP section at the music festival.

Lloyd, who took up beat boxing after seeing it on television, said: "I was really happy and excited when I was chosen and knew it was going to be a really chance."

Clash is being shown on BBC1 at 4.35pm on Tuesdays and continues for the next three weeks.
