Top tips from Debenham's personal shopper:

l Avoid creating any lines across the widest part of your body, i.e. bust, hips.

l Turn-ups are a definite no for short legs, try high-waist trousers.

l Patterns on lower body draw attention to the hips, and stripes over curves don't work.

l Skirts will always appear more slimming when they taper slightly.

l Larger ladies... choose soft fabrics that drape.
