NEWPORT Gwent Dragons full back Kevin Morgan, hoping for an international return for Wales against Japan on Friday, today claimed: "I feel I'm far from being a spent force. There's plenty more to come."

Morgan was yesterday called into the Wales squad for their final game of the Autumn series and could replace skipper Gareth Thomas against Japan, Thomas having returned to his French club along with Stephen Jones and Colin Charvis.

Morgan's last game was against Italy in the World Cup but his progress in the past two years has been hampered by a series of serious injuries.

However, he now looks set to return and said: "It's great being involved once again and if I do get in the 22 for Japan it will be a great fillip ahead of the Six Nations.

"It would be a great bonus for me to be involved because at the start of the season my only aim was to cement my place in the Dragons team.

"It's great to be joining back up with a Welsh squad who are beginning to do things in world rugby and who are looking forward to every match they play in.

"It had been frustrating for me not being involved but you have got to be realistic. I have not played much rugby over the last two years due to injury and your confidence is affected when you are not playing week in week out.

"I have been playing more regularly this season and feel I've been playing well but there is still a lot more to come.

"I have not really thought of playing for Wales at the start of the season. My main priority was simply to cement my place in the Dragons team and I've done that.

"Now I've got to keep on performing because the Welsh backs are playing some great rugby at the moment and if I want to continue to stay a part of the Welsh squad I have to keep playing well.

"I don't feel that I'm far from being where I was a couple of season's ago when a Welsh regular. It's just playing those games week in week out that will get me back to being 100 per cent."

Morgan was just a spectator at Saturday's game against the All Blacks but said as a spectator he knew how excited the whole nation had been by the Welsh performance.

"I know the boys are disappointed they did not win. I know they feel they could have won one of the games against South Africa and New Zealand but running the Southern Hemisphere's top sides so close and performing in the way we did was great for Welsh rugby."
