Newport County players will be hoping some of Goldie Lookin Chain's recent high profile success rubs off on the team with this exclusively designed kit with the band's logo and famous "you knows it" catchphrase.

This is the first glimpse of the new design after kit designers Errea and the club teamed up with the band to create a new strip which is intended to be worn in this season's Football Association of Wales Cup competition.

The design features a goldie lookin' chain around the front and back and a retro club badge worn by the club in the 1980s.

The band's Newport-inspired slogan 'you knows it' appears on the badge and the back of the amber shirt.

It is hoped the finer details of the Newport County/GLC kit deal will be completed in the coming weeks and the kit will go on sale in late October. County fan Rob Santwris, who came up with the original idea and helped with the design, said: "We think this design could not have gone better. It is retro with the old badge and the medallion which the band are synonomous with."

The shirts are expected to cost £35 for adults and £25 for juniors and are being made by Italian kit designers Errea, designers of the current Newport County kit.

It is hoped the band, about to embark on a two month UK tour after the success of their Greatest Hits album, may perform at the Newport Stadium in Spytty later this year.

County striker Carl Wilson-Denis said: "Anything that lifts our profile is great for the club."
