SUPPORTERS of Newbridge Memo's bid to win BBC2's Restoration competition can begin voting from tomorrow evening.

A BBC spokeswoman said yesterday that people can vote from 10pm - and that essential number to ring has been revealed as 09011 322203. Voting will then continue for around 48 hours until the live final of the Restoration programme is screened on Sunday evening.

Voting will continue throughout the programme - until around 10pm just before the winner is finally announced.

The Memo stands to win a cool £3 million if it beats off competition from around the country in a campaign being backed by the Argus.

The Friends of Newbridge Memo have been leading a high-profile campaign in a bid to get as much support for the Memo as possible.

Now Tracey Lewis, one of the Friends, says they have high hopes that the community will win through - and scoop the prize that would mean a full refurbishment for the former cinema and dance hall.

Efforts have been continuing in force this week, to ensure that the message gets across to people, not just locally but across Wales and beyond.

The Memo has a stall at the Newport Eisteddfod which has been attracting plenty of attention - and hundreds of postcards asking people to vote are being distributed in many different areas, including Worcester. Mrs Lewis said: "We are asking people who are going on day trips to take some flyers with them and hand them out.

"We have already given them out at beaches, at the Gower and at the Scenic Drive in Cwmcarn - and all over the place!

"Two bus loads of Memo supporters are due to head for London on Sunday evening, for the live final.

"Other locals will congregate at the Memo to tune in to the programme with hopes high."
