DETECTIVES are now in their fifth day of waiting to quiz a postman about the death of a mother-of-one.

Natalie Cain, 24, was found dead from stab wounds at the home of her former partner Mark Redwood in Risca last Saturday.

She is understood to have lived with her husband Michael Cain on Corporation Road.

Mr Cain was yesterday too upset to speak about the death. Mrs Cain, formerly Jenkins, was last seen alive on Thursday night drinking in several Risca pubs with Mr Redwood.

Mr Redwood, 30, of Almond Avenue, is currently being treated at a Reading hospital, where he admitted himself with minor injuries on Saturday.

Information he gave ambulance staff led to Thames Valley Police contacting the Gwent force with details of an address in Almond Avenue. Police are waiting for the all-clear from doctors to move Mr Redwood back to Gwent before they quiz him as part of their murder inquiry.

Neighbours of Mr Redwood, who delivered mail in Newport, have expressed shock at the death.

Matthew King, a 28-year-old machine operator from Almond Avenue, said he last saw Mr Redwood on Thursday.

He said: "I saw Mark drive past on the day and he tooted his horn and waved."

Mrs Cain's family yesterday issued a statement through the police. It reads: "The family are devastated at the death of Natalie. "She was a much-loved daughter, sister and mother and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

"The family would now like to be left alone to grieve for Natalie in peace."
