GET your selection right or you will lose the crunch World Cup game against Italy, warns former Wales coach Graham Henry.

The man who led Wales to a record equalling 10 wins in a row before falling from grace and resigning has listed a whole series of areas where he believes Wales are going wrong in Australia.

Henry, doing commentary work for HTV, was not impressed by Wales' narrow 27-20 victory over Tonga on Sunday which now increases the pressure for a result from the Italy game if Wales are to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Among the shock moves Henry would make is to drop the captain Colin Charvis and replace him with Martyn Williams.

Henry makes a number of accusations: "There is no cornerstone in the Welsh pack.

"Players are leaving it to others to do the job. They are too uptight and need to relax."

Henry says it is vital to get the selection right or the all-important Italy game. He is strongly critical there, too, saying: "A loose head prop, Gethin Jenkins, is playing at tight head.

"There is only one recognised number eight in the squad - Alix Popham. The two locks ought to be Brent Cockbain and Chris Wyatt.

"There should be no place for Colin Charvis, with the captaincy passing to Martyn Williams.

"The players are too uptight and they need to relax and enjoy the challenge of the World Cup," says Henry.

"The team that wins the World Cup is the one which can do that instead of thinking it's a huge hurdle.

"Wales should enjoy the challenge this marvellous tournament presents and not let the next guy do the job.

"That would be a pity because if the players are so uptight that they can't play they are going to get beaten.

"I think selection of the side is crucial. If the best XV is picked against Italy they can win, but it's certainly going to be interesting.

"There are lots of crucial selections like tight head prop. There doesn't appear to be a cornerstone. I know that Gethin did the job, but he's a loose head playing at tight head.

"Adam Jones came on, I don't know him, but though he seemed more solid I wonder if he's got the fitness to go 80 minutes.

"The two locks who have impressed me so far are Brent Cockbain and Chris Wyatt. Cockbain had a big game against Canada and Wyatt made a huge difference when he went on against Tonga.

"He stole a few balls off the Tongans and he has got some athleticism. He won't be overawed by the occasion. And Alix Popham is the only natural No 8 in the squad."

Henry also has words of praise for one notable Welsh player - Iestyn Harris.

"He's been Wales' best player in the tournament. He can see things other players can't and he can create," said Henry.

"He's playing very well which is great, and he's going to get better. He's starting to feel comfortable and he's a lot more relaxed about it all."

Asked whether Wales can beat Italy, Henry replied, "Yes, of course they can."
