GLAMOUR model Lexy Johnson (pictured managed to wipe-out the competition to become a surfboard babe.

The 19-year-old beat 1,000 other young hopefuls to get her face on the cover of a national magazine.

And now she is in the final 20 competing to be crowned Boardmaster Babe of the Year.

Lexy, of Ty-Canol, Cwmbran, could win £2,000, a holiday and a modelling contract if she is successful in the contest run by lads mag Nuts. She will do her best surf poses before a panel of judges in Newquay, Cornwall, this weekend.

Luckily for her, though, it won't be on water - she has never surfed in her life.

"My mum sent a picture of me to the magazine and I had a lot of votes on the Internet with people asking to see it," said Lexy. "I was called up for an interview and made it through to the last 20 girls, I'm really excited."

Mother Mel and father Keith said they were proud of Lexy and were supporting her all the way.

"It's what she wants to do and we both support her, she has a talent and she loves doing it," said Mrs Johnson.

Lexy has 11 GCSEs, which she says proves that not all models are stupid.

"I did my GCSEs, went to college to study hair and beauty and I would like to be a veterinary nurse in the future if modelling doesn't last forever," she said.

Modelling has taken Lexy all around the country and she has met some celebrities in the modelling world.

Having recently won a year's contract with Redline car magazines, Lexy has met top glamour model Jordan, been snapped by leading photographers and has visited Stringfellows club in London.

"Since I started modelling last year I have won student of the month for the Daily Star and Front Magazine, motel babe in Loaded and I was in the final 10 for the Max Power bikini competition."
