WALES lock-forward Gareth Llewellyn equalled Neil Jenkins' record number of appearances for his country, but then admitted it could well be his last.

Llewellyn won his 87th cap in Saturday's comprehensive victory over Italy at the Millennium Stadium.

But with a new coach coming in he knows that his future is uncertain.

"I read somewhere that I've been backed to go on and win 100 caps," said Llewellyn.

"But that would mean playing for another two seasons and it would be very arrogant of me to think that at my age I could go on playing at the highest level until then.

"So I really haven't made my mind up.

"I would like to go on the summer tour, but it's not up to me. There is a new coach coming in and he may well have new ideas. He will want to give youth a chance so I may not be in his plans.

"I'm as keen as ever, I have 12 months left on my regional contract and that is as far as I'm looking."

On the pitch Llewellyn was delighted with Wales' 44-10 victory.

"I'm pleased because that type of performance and result has been coming for a while.

"I think everyone could see that we were enjoying ourselves because we wanted to run the ball at every given opportunity. There is still a long way to go, but we are heading in the right direction."

The big lock forward also paid tribute to outgoing coach Steve Hansen for his work in revolutionising Welsh rugby.

"I think Saturday's game is only a small reflection of the work he has put in," said Llewellyn.

"The whole squad has come such a long way and that is down to the work Steve Hansen has done. He's earned a lot of respect."
