Wales came close in Brisbane, but could not stop England securing their place in the World Cup semi-finals.
With 43 minutes gone, tries from Stephen Jones and Colin Charvis gave Wales a 10-3 lead. England returned from the interval inspired awith a quick try from Greenwood and Wilkinson regaining the touch that had deserted him in the first half as he kicked England into the lead.
