CHILDREN are at the heart of our Sparkle Appeal - and youngsters at Croesyceiliog Comprehensive, got into the party spirit to raise money.

Year Seven pupils at the school took the opportunity to raise funds as they enjoyed themselves at their annual Christmas party.

Pupils donated money to the appeal on the day of their party, and managed to raise a total of £155.38 for our appeal.

We launched the Sparkle Appeal with the aim of raising £250,000 towards a £6m Children's Centre to help disabled children in Newport, Torfaen and south Monmouthshire, and we asked for your help in achieving this target.

Anne-Marie Burgess, assistant head of Year Seven, said that all of the 270 pupils were given the chance to make a voluntary contribution of £1.

She said: "We thought the Sparkle Appeal was a relevant appeal to our children.

"It is definitely a worthwhile appeal and the children had a great time on the day, too."
