IT'S been a G'day Down Under after a G'night as well.

To start at the beginning of the sequence, it was a member of the Welsh media's birthday yesterday, and we had a right night out at Filthy Mcfadyeans (yes, that's the name, and no it wasn't filthy).

The half-dozen of us there were joined by a very friendly Steve Hansen (honestly) and Alan Phillips, who said they'd call in for half-an-hour and stay for one, but they were there for over two hours and for a few more than one. A good night was had by all, a hugely enjoyable experience with all manner of chit-chat, from regional rugby to Wales' next game and what team Hansen may or may not put out (in confidence, though he gave little away).

It turns out he's a fan of Max Boyce, who is on a promotional visit to Australia, and there is no doubt Hansen will return to New Zealand after the Six Nations to spend time with his daughters.

Our birthday boy got married a month ago, returning from his honeymoon just before leaving for Oz. He takes great pleasure in showing us the wedding picture.

Well, Steve (if I can now call Hansen that) had clearly seen it one time too many, and he leant over to the increasingly inebriated reporter and said: "Please don't show me that photo again." We all took it in good fun as intended. Then the Iestyn Harris interview was held much earlier this morning than usual, so there was time for a round of golf at Murrumbidgee Country Club where we have acquired temporary membership.

The birthday boy (who happens to play off six) suggested last night that the evening paper boys (he and me) would take on two of the morning paper guys today, a challenge that was readily accepted.

They had their own clubs whereas we had to hire, birthday boy from yesterday wasn't feeling great and I'm off 26 not 6. About the only success was the weather which was absolutely glorious. To be in a second Spring in the same year is quite something. Anyway we got talked (cheated?) out of it and lost on the final green, costing us 20 dollars in a wager.

A night and a day which was a welcome respite before it's back to the rugby tomorrow; A Press conference at team HQ, the Tonga-Italy game in the night and the Welsh team announcement for the Tonga match the next day. The build-up to match number two is ready for lift-off!
