CWMBRAN Town new-boy Chris Thomas opened his Crows' account on Saturday in the 3-1 defeat of fellow Gwent side Caerleon.

Midfielder Michael Fowler and defender Jason Welsh (pictured) grabbed the others in another convincing pre-season display.

The Crows are unbeaten in four friendly matches and have put the ball in the net 18 times as they gear up for their Welsh Premier campaign.

Meanwhile Llanwern, who were relegated from the League of Wales First Division last year, were given a real fright by revitalised Albion Rovers.

Rovers took a 3-0 half-time lead before Llanwern made a second half comeback.

Llanwern secretary Alan Watkins said: "We were a bit all over the shop in the first half but after half-time we got our shape together and looked pretty decent.

"We are looking good for the coming campaign and fair play to Albion, they look to have a good side this year."

Albion suffered a horror season last year with several hefty defeats and vandals attacking their ground but look to be in better shape for the coming campaign.

Llanwern are in action tomorrow night against Newport Civil Service at Bettws Lane, kick-off 6.45pm.

Newport YMCA were also held 3-3 by Treowen, with new signing John Miles grabbing goals as well as Ben Hilman and Lewis Sommers hitting the target.

Chepstow had another decent run out in their 1-1 draw with Lebury while Goytre looked promising in their 5-3 victory over Cwmbach Royal Stars.

Mike Dickson grabbed a brace, as did Andy Walsh and Mark Langford completed the scoring for Goytre.

Tredegar's preparations are going well as they ran out 6-3 winners over Croesyceiliog. They were 5-0 up at half-time before Croesy made a spirited comeback in the second period but Tredegar finished the stronger.
