This summer visit the Romans as they march on Caerleon.

On the July 10 and 11 there will be a weekend full of re-enactment at the Roman Legionary Museum's 'Military Spectacular'.

There will be soldiers, cavalry, artillery and civilians ready to make the day a memorable experience.

Come and meet the Roman soldiers, feel the weight of a helmet or shield, and watch them in the amphitheatre.

"It's fantastic having the soldiers marching in the amphitheatre," said Museum Manager Bethan Lewis, "They really bring the past alive, and they look so spectacular. It's a great weekend, there's lots for families to do and there's a brilliant atmosphere".

The soldiers also display the might of their artillery, and the skills of the cavalry and riders.

You could also visit the Roman cook and try a few tasty morsels, or maybe a trip to the Roman doctor and herbalist.

Have a browse around the glassmakers stall or get yourself a bargain at the traders' stall.

There's plenty to do for children and adults alike.

You could try writing on wax tablets, grinding grain for bread the hard way, playing games or perhaps creating a masterpiece of a fresco.

Children can march in the amphitheatre in the 'Junior Legion' under the watchful eye of a soldier and get a certificate.

And to get a real feel for history there will be talks and Roman artefact handling sessions for both children and adults.

The event is open between 11am and 4pm and costs £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and £10 for a family of two adults and three children.
