Kristian Lund, Newport Wasps latest arrival, is quickly back in action for the Isle of Wight. He guested for the Islanders on Tuesday night and collected eight points in a 59-36 win over Rye House in the Premier League Knock-out Cup.

The return is on Saturday night at Rye House's Hoddesdon track and Newport promoter Tim Stone said: "They were very happy with him in the first leg and they quickly came back to book him for the return."

And Belle Vue wanted fellow Dane Mads Korneiliussen, who rode for Rye House against the Isle of Wight, for their Elite League date at Poole last night but he had commitments back home and couldn't accept the booking.

Wasps skipper Craig Watson rode for Belle Vue on Monday against Poole and scored a paid eight against the Elite League leaders. Watson said: "I was happy with that score riding against a side top of the table, particularly as a heat leader."

Watson rides at Sheffield tonight against Edinburgh and the Wasps ride against the Scottish outfit twice in the near future.

They ride in Scotland a week tomorrow with the return at Hayley Stadium a week Sunday.

And Australian Watson had a super Saturday in Germany, winning a long-track meeting at Bad Zwischenahn. He won all his heats, a semi-final and the final.

Pavel Ondrasik returns to the Wasps' line-up for the home Premier League meeting with Workington on Sunday (tapes up 2.30pm), with Newport staging yet another double header.

The GMB Mavericks ride the return Conference League meeting with Buxton Hitmen. Wasps are looking for a fourth successive home league victory but it's mission impossible so far as the bonus point is concerned, having lost the meeting at Derwent Park by a monster 63-28 margin in their opening league match of the season.

But despite the continued absence of the injured Tony Atkin, recovering from a broken arm, the Wasps have a much sounder look, Ondrasik's form part of new-found improvement.

However, he did not fare too well in his country's national individual championship at the weekend, finishing tenth on six points at the 450-metre Koprivnice track.

Karl Mason, when he has recovered from a knee injury, will share one of the reserve berths with recent arrival Barrie Evans. The other reserve slot is now held by Carl Wilkinson. Tim Stone, Newport promoter, said: I can't make a call between Karl and Barrie so after discussions with team manager Neil Street we've decided to give them both a shot to see who makes the position their own."
