SEAT'S best selling model, the Ibiza, has taken Diesel Car magazine's award for Best Budget Car 2004. Diesel Car gave the honours to the Ibiza 1.4 TDi S after an exhaustive search left them in no doubt that, although not the cheapest, it offers the best value for money.

Diesel Car's award-winning Ibiza costs £10,615 on the road. It is powered by a frugal 1.4-litre turbo diesel 75 PS engine which delivers a combined fuel consumption figure of 61.4mpg and a top speed of 107mph. It was particularly praised for its high specification and hands-on driving pleasure.

Standard equipment includes air conditioning, radio/CD player and ABS, and the stable ride and tight cornering comes courtesy of Seat's Agile Chassis system and DSR (dynamic steering response). All this in a sporty but practical supermini with a quality cabin and ample luggage space.

The Seat Ibiza is no stranger to awards. It was What Car? magazine's Best Supermini and overall Car of the Year 2003 and Best Supermini again in 2004. 2003 also saw the Ibiza 130 TDi Sport take Diesel Car's award for Best Performance Diesel.
