TOP racing rivals, Jason Plato and Yvan Muller, are set to go head to head off the track when they cheer on their home nations in Euro 2004.

After competing the Irish rounds of the Green Flag British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), the pair, who have a history of intense rivalry, will be able to watch England play France when the two countries meet in their opening match, thanks to championship sponsors, Green Flag.

Green Flag will be making sure no one misses the big games by setting up television screens for the drivers and teams to watch the action straight after the race at Mondello Park near Dublin on June 13, which clashes with the France-England game.

Reigning champion Muller, who hails from France's Alsace region, is currently tied at the top spot with VX Racing teammate James Thompson, while England fan Plato lies in fifth place. The Seat driver will be going for maximum points in Ireland if he is to challenge for the title. The former Vauxhall teammates last battled it out for the title in 2001, which Plato eventually went on to win.
