A MOTORCYCLIST from Pontllanfraith died after coming off his bike in Chepstow.

The man, who has not been named, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with serious head and neck injuries on Sunday evening following an incident on the B4235.

It is understood that the man became separated from the bike, landing in a hedge.

He was later transferred to the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff, where he died yesterday evening.

Inspector Mark Riley, of Gwent Police, said: "The cause of the accident is still unclear.

"We do not believe any third party was involved but we are appealing for witnesses to get in touch."
