EBBW Vale are determined to appeal against the sending-off of flanker Tyron Morris from last Saturday's 45-25 Celtic League win over Caerphilly.

Director of rugby Ray Harris said defiantly 'we are definitely not accepting that' after watching a video of the match and the club intend to contest the dismissal once the club receives the referee's report from the Welsh Rugby Union.

Referee Gareth Simmonds sent Morris off just seven minutes into the match on the advice of touch-judge Mike O'Connor for illegal use of the boot on Caerphilly hooker Christian Ferris.

The dismissal helped Caerphilly pile up an 18-3 lead after 30 minutes before Ebbw Vale bounced back with a hat-trick of tries from centre Rhys Shorney, but Vale are keen to contest Morris' dismissal when the 22-year-old appears before a WRU disciplinary panel in the next few weeks.

Harris said: "The video of the ruck showed the ball was there and Tyron rucked the ball out legitimately.

"It doesn't look like he touched the player and we are definitely not accepting that (the dismissal). We'll contest it in the strongest possible terms."

The key issue in Ebbw Vale's defence will be whether the WRU panel agree that their player was intending to clear the ball from the ruck situation without harming Ferris.

However, if they find Morris guilty, the typical ban he can expect is six weeks.
