POLICE are hunting a man who indecently assaulted a woman as she walked alone in Cross Keys.
The assault happened at 9pm on August 28 as the woman approached the bridge by Halls Road.
The woman, 28, saw a group of 'boisterous' young men walking towards her. Police say as they approached, one man grabbed her and pulled her back by the hair and attempted to kiss her.
As she struggled to get free, he grabbed her by her throat indecently assaulted her and pushed her against the railings.
Police say they are looking to interview a man who is described as about 6ft tall with a tanned complexion and of stocky build, chubby features, dark short spiky hair and with a Newport accent.
The man they want to interview was wearing a short-sleeved white T-shirt and black trousers.
DC Debbie Mitson said: "This was a particularly nasty assault on a vulnerable, unsuspecting woman which was aggravated by the fact that there was more than one person present."
