GLAMORGAN hope to end their season with a bit of a bang at Sophia Gardens this weekend but their one-day triumph is still taking a bit of getting over.

The county face Northamptonshire at home starting today days after they popped the champagne corks at Canterbury to celebrate their Norwich Union League title.

And Chepstow-based Adrian Dale, for one, is not about to let the last hoorah of the summer be an anti-climax to their week of joy.

Dale, who hit 43 against Kent to help lead the team to their one-day league victory, said: "It's another big effort now to get us up for this game.

"We are certainly looking to go out on a high. We had the supporters club dinner on Monday night and everyone was still on a high from Sunday.

"But I think we are probably just coming down from it. I am."

It may have been a glorious summer for Glamorgan in the limited overs game but, in the championship matches they have been average.

Had they hit if off in both competitions, the Welsh side would have been unstoppable.

"It's a difficult mental approach when you have to bat for a time in county cricket and whack it in the one-dayers," said Dale.

"Every game in the county championships is a different story but, overall, I don't think we have batted and bowled together well enough in it. We have just not clicked as a team."

But this final match of the campaign is still important for Glamorgan.

Dale added: "Nobody likes to lose the last one of the season because you have to wait six months before you can redeem yourselves.

"I think we could have done more in the championship. We set a couple of goals at the start of the season which was to get promotion in that competiton, which we failed to do.

"But, in the one-dayers, I think we more than made up for that."

All the players will disperse their separate ways once the final ball is bowled in Cardiff this weekend.

However, the pace of cricket involvement will not let up as far as the man of Gwent is concerned.

He still has a couple of functions planned over the next few months as part of his benefit year, but there is a more important date he has to meet around Christmas time.

Dale said: "My wife is expecting in December (their second child) so that will keep us busy."
