COLLARED and arrogant, The Icarus Line, fly from LA to Newport for a night in TJ's next month.

The punk band will be promoting their debut album, Mono, which is out now on Sweet Nothing Records.

The tour is the band's second in the UK and will feature support from Kids Near Water and Burning Brides.

The word on the street is... The Icarus Line play the most hard-hitting, freakout, panic rock this side of Jesus Lizard.

They look like much-raved-about Swedish retro punk band, The Hives, but their sound is way beyond that.

Whereas The Hives faithfully recreate the late 70s/early 80s punk of the likes of The Buzzcocks, SNUFF, The Icarus Line try new avenues to rock the kids.

Live, they are out to scare, even in shirt and tie. The band pushes and pulls like The Jesus Lizard, rocks out like The Who and descend into punk depravity like Iggy Pop. Rarely does a band come across as dingy as the venues they play, but The Icarus line and TJ's are a match made in heaven.

Expect an evening packed with feedback, tortured vocals and dangerous posterings! l The Icarus Line play TJ's, Clarence Place, Newport on Wednesday, February 20. For more details ring 01633 216608. An interview with The Icarus Line's singer, Joe Cardamone, will be printed in Mono next month.
