THIS YEAR'S Saturday young scene at the Sherman Theatre is hosting a lively mix of inventive drama for children.

In March, Quicksilver Theatre pay a visit with their production of All By My Own, by Carey English, a heart-warming play for three to five-year-olds.

A little person grown up and old, Onie rummages through a lifetime of luggage back to the time when she was little. In sharing special moments of her childhood, from the quiet of loneliness to the giddy heights of achievement and the glorious satisfaction of warm praise, All By My Own explores the small child's-eye view of the big world of emotions.

The play is presented in Quicksilver's warm and intimate style, and promises to take the audience on a colourful journey, with comedy, visual delights and a posse of puppets.

All By My Own was first produced in 1998 when it was performed and written by Carey English and directed and designed by Philip Engleheart. It's a sparkling mix of storytelling, theatre in miniature, live action and shadow play, and has entertained and moved children, their parents and their grandparents.

Quicksilver Theatre has 24 years of experience, commissioning and producing new plays and performing them to children the length and breadth of Britain and abroad, providing many with their first experience of live theatre.

Part of the company's mission statement says: "Our respect for each child as a full individual in society is the basis from which we explore and celebrate life through theatre. Our constant aim is to give the highest artistic and production standards to make our plays an entertaining and enriching experience, relevant and accessible to all children."

All By My Own is at the Sherman Theatre on Saturday March 2. There are performances at 11am and 2pm, and tickets are priced at £4 for adults, £2 for children, and £10 for a family, (up to four tickets). Box Office: 029 2064 6900.
