EDWARDS Geldard has continued its support of Fairbridge De Cymru, a charity which encourages young people throughout South Wales to realise and develop life skills through exciting practical activities.

Fairbridge De Cymru facilitates a variety of activities to help marginalised young people to develop a sense of self-belief and transferable skills.

Edwards Geldard sponsored the 'Spirit of Fairbridge' corporate reception, giving guests and supporters the opportunity to view Fairbridge De Cymru's flagship, which is moored at Roath Basin, Cardiff.

The 'Spirit of Fairbridge' is a 92-foot replica Victorian pilot schooner - crewed by volunteers from the charity.

The event also presented guests with an opportunity to meet employees of Fairbridge and the young people who have benefited from its work, onboard the fully functional ocean going vessel.

Huw Williams, partner of Edwards Geldard, Cardiff, said: "It is a great opportunity for Edwards Geldard to be able to sponsor such a worthy charity as Fairbridge De Cymru and help towards developing the wealth of talent that is available here in South Wales.

"The 'Spirit of Fairbridge' helps the volunteers learn practical skills as well as challenging them to think about their personal interaction with others, and how to deal with any awkward situations that could arise in such a close proximity.

"It is encouraging to see that with the right environment, support and resources, talented individuals can develop regardless of personal circumstances."

Craig Wilson, skipper and boat manager, said: "All the volunteers give one hundred per cent while they are working together on our national projects.

"This is a unique experience which gives all the young people the opportunity to change their own lives for the better."
