A NATIONAL newspaper is following the Argus' lead and backing Gwent hairdresser Helen Adams to win the Big Brother battle.

The Sun has jumped on board as the reality television show, which has gripped millions of viewers, draws to a close later this week.

Unlike the national tabloid, we have backed Helen to win the Channel 4 programme's £70,000 prize from the very beginning.

A piece in today's Sun, which describes her as a "national heroine", unfortunately says she is from Cardiff.

As our readers know, we are proud that Helen hails from Cwmbran.

Big Brother started with ten people and by Friday there will be just two left. Argus readers have helped to ensure that popular Helen has survived so long. Her mum Liz appealed in our paper for our readers to vote her opponents out.

Helen, who lives in Ty Canol, enthralled viewers with her "will they, won't they" flirtation with fellow housemate Paul.

Last week both were nominated for eviction and Paul was the one given the heave-ho. As the final countdown begins, Argus readers can once again support Helen and make her the last one in The House.

This week could prove a double celebration for Welsh women as, on ITV's rival show Survivor, South Wales policewoman Charlotte Hoborough will find out tonight if she has won £1 million after spending 40 days on Pulau Tiga in the South China Sea.
