THE investigation started when police followed up an anonymous tip-off claiming the man owned child pornography.

After obtaining a warrant to search his house, detectives found a hoard of degrading child abuse images, including videos of him attacking his daughter.

Police say he shared pornography images with other paedophiles and pictures were sent all over the world including to countries like Russia. A major inquiry was then launched and a team of ten detectives were assigned to work on the case.

Their investigations took them all over Wales and England as they gathered witness statements.

Detective Inspector Fortey said the defendant "portrayed himself as a family-oriented man who made time to care for children. "However, if you look under that veneer, there was a man with a propensity to abuse."

DI Fortey praised the "tireless" work of his team leading to the man's conviction. He said: "I am proud of the officers' thorough and comprehensive investigation and the file prepared was so involved and detailed that it forced the defence to enter guilty pleas.

"This prevented the victims having to undergo the ordeal of having to give evidence," he said.
