NICKY Robinson takes on a new role for Wales tomorrow in his first full appearance at the Millennium Stadium - place kicker.

And though the talented outside half is delighted to be playing in front of 70,000 fans against Fiji he plans to shut them out.

When Robinson toured North America with Wales in the summer he had to play second fiddle to Ceri Sweeney, who enjoyed such a high success ratio that the Cardiff Blues player didn't get a look-in.

Robinson is a keen admirer of Stephen Jones, who is back in France and not available against Fiji, but he has turned to an even greater kicking expert for advice - Wales record points scorer Neil Jenkins.

"I'm constantly talking to Neil, he's the best man to speak to and he has told me you've got to think you're out on a field kicking on your own, which is something you know you can do," said Robinson, who wins his ninth cap.

"If you thought about it it would be more nerve-wracking than it is, so I've just got to think of it as being another pitch.

"If there are 70,000 there that would be great, it's what you get up every day for. I want to be kicking in front of 70,000, it's why I'm out there hour after hour practising, the more pressure there is the more you've got to deal with it. " Robinson admits he's going to do it his way in the key role he's been handed against the Fijians.

"Every game you've got to play within a structure to a certain extent, but you have to play your natural game as well. I'll play the way I do, I'm not going to change.

"It was great to get 10 minutes against New Zealand in my first game in the stadium (he went on 12 minutes from the end). It was a great experience for me to be involved in, so I'm looking forward to starting at 10 with Stephen away.

"That's given me a chance to show what I can do. I did have a chance in the summer, but Stephen did well with the Lions.

"But now Mike Ruddock is looking at other people and given them chances, so it's down to us to take them. It's hard to know how Fiji will turn up, they are athletic, big and strong, they could turn up and chuck it around or they could be strong and we could struggle to contain them in the first 20 or 30 minutes."
