SHE certainly knows how to live up to her Material Girl title. Fans wanting to see the queen of pop when Madonna kicks off her European tour in Cardiff will have to shell out at least £80 for a ticket.

For that, you'll get a seat in the gods and probably have to watch most of the show on the large TV screens.

Pay top whack of £160 and you'll probably get a better view. The singer promises to "turn the world into one big dancefloor" after releasing the first dates for her Confessions world tour.

But many young fans will have to start saving their pocket money now or simply won't be able to afford a ticket.

"All tickets are subject to a booking fee," her promoters also reminded fans.

British fans may be paying more than their European counterparts with price tickets for her September Amsterdam Arena show advertised for £68.

It is likely that Madonna will fill the 60,000 seats at the Millennium Stadium on July 30.

And she is yet another great coup for the venue following U2, REM, The Rolling Stones and Take That's reunion tour.

Madge is giving fan club members a chance to buy tickets through her website ahead of the sale to the general public.

For their money, fans are promised a spectacular show featuring costumes designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier and a selection of her classic hits mixed with material from her recent Confessions on a Dancefloor album.

She has already begun rehearsals in Los Angeles with her troupe of musicians and dancers.

The multi-Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter and children's book author has notched up sales of over 200 million albums.

Tickets for Madonna in Cardiff at Millennium Stadium on July 30 go on sale Friday, April 21, at 9am and are limited to six per person. Buy online at www.getlive.co.uk or call the credit card hotline; 0871 230 5441 (24hrs).
