MAINSTREAM Distortion hails from Cwmbran. It's a two-piece featuring Stitch on vocals and electronics and Craig on guitars.

They make an industrial dance noise which is part gothic, part dark wave. The duo formed a couple of years ago and they've been working towards their debut album, Bully, which is released in the shops on Monday. It's already on sale on the band's label's website, www.plastichead.com from which it's been dispatched to fans in the Eastern Europe and Australia.

The band is actually signed to the same record label as Soft Cell - Some Bizarre.

It owes some small debt to the 80s' goth scene but more to the likes of Nine Inch Nails.

But there is a more visceral tone to much of Bully, largely thanks to the razor wire like vocals and the caustic guitar.

The copious amounts of electronics are weaved into some pretty good songs like Insect and Glutton.

On the latter they touch on ground previously occupied by Aphex Twin. The band hasn't played any gigs recently but from Bully it sounds like the band is mainly studio based.
