POLICE looking for a convicted sex offender believe he could be in Newport.

Errol Lee, 41, was jailed at Cardiff crown court in January 1997 for five years for the attempted rape of a girl under 16. He was placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Lee is currently breaching his community rehabilitation order and one of the requirements of the Sexual Offences Act, by not notifying police of his address.

The last reported sighting of Lee was in Newport six months ago, said a police spokesman, adding he could be a danger to young women.

Lee is white, with a slim build and is about 5ft 11in tall. He has black hair, brown eyes, a scar on the left side of his face and tattoos of a monkey and a dragon on his left arm.

He is known to frequent Newport; Newham, in east London, and Birmingham.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "He may be a danger to young women and we are asking members of the public to remain vigilant."
