MEMBERS of a Gwent musical company might be wondering if someone accidentally mentioned the Scottish play.
As thespians know, it can be unlucky to say the name of Macbeth inside a theatre.
And the New Venture Players have certainly had some bad luck in the run-up to their production of The Wedding Singer.
In the latest incident, someone set fire to a promotional poster which then spread to the hedge it was attached to.
Mo Ludlow, described as the "nana" of the society, had the sign on the privet in her front garden in Cardiff Road. When she woke up on Friday morning, the hedge was completely burnt and "looking dreadful".
Newport police are investigating the fire which they believe was deliberately set.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
In September, we featured the company's desperate search for wedding dresses for next month's show.
Then costumes were stolen during a burglary although they were later recovered.
Fingers will be crossed that all goes well for the actual show at the Dolman Theatre in Newport.
But don't wish them luck - just suggest they "break a leg".
* Tickets for The Wedding Singer, which runs from October 6 to 10, are available from 01633 662191.
